liftgates Liftgates Interview
Name of your website?

Liftgates

Your name?

Rod Harper

Your Location (city, etc)

Houston

Please give us a short summary of your website?

Ezy-lift" is in a class of it's own. It is the only "truck mounted crane"/"liftgate" in it's class! "Ezy-Lift" is easily managed while standing beside the truck rather then on the "tailgate". Ezy Lift Picks the object up and easily lifts it over the bed then you lower it with the winch at the spot you desire. No rolling or sliding.

What inspired you to launch your own website?

To Make Money

When did you launch your first website, and what was it?

4 years ago. To scary to tell. My second one was www.rayfordridge.com or maybe it was my 4th

How did you decide on a name for your website?

after being in consctruction for 7 years, we always said "on the count of 3" 1-2-3 LIFT! Thus http://www.123lift.com

What makes it different from other, similar offerings?

Our lift is crazy, It hides in the truck, your imgination can't explain it. You will have to see to understand.

What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)

Not really sure yet. It is worth a lot of money, but it is also a golden goose. It has approx 150 "keywords" in the top 10 on Google, Yahoo and MSN.

How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?

We all need more time, once a site is done and the maintenance is low it can be extremely rewarding.

If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?

Move over Wikipedia.

If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?

doh. The bigger it gets hte more people I pay to maintain it :)

What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?

To many to list

What has been your biggest challenge?

learning SEO and webbuilding in General. Anyonecan build a site, but how many can get it places number 4 out of 11 million other sites? Much less Number one? with the same keywords. I do feel special :)

What method has been most successful for promoting your website?

If I told you I would have to kill you. all in all seriousness, Father Time.

How has running your website differed from your expectations?

I could have had a law degree with the time I have spent Learning this tuff. Serious. The pay off will be bigger though :)

How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?

10 months. Forever, unless I get offered a crazy sum of money. Fact is the site has already created Ezy Lift oodles of cash.It will continue to do so as long as it is alive.

Where do you think the internet is headed?

The internet is growing leaps and bounds. We will need more major search engines. Unless Google can handle it all. fact is More search engines will give othe people a chance to be in the lead, if all search engines have different algarythems. MSN, Yahoo and Google are all differnt, but I still manage to be in the top 5 on all 3. Change will be crucial.

What is your website address?

Liftgates
