Just read an article on CBSNews.com about how Hugo Chavez of Venezuela is giving away a great deal to his citizens. Swap in their big gas-guzzling vehicles for smaller, more fuel efficient cars. Chavez will even throw in a year of free gas. That's what caught my eye, until I read the second sentence. Gas goes for about 12 cents a gallon down there.
Now what if something like that would happen in the US? What would even happen? The world may never know, just like how many licks it takes to get to the center of a Tootsie Pop.
Even with Gas at 12 cents a gallon the economy is in shambles in Venezuela.
Would you trade living in what is basically a dictatorship for cheap gasoline? For not having enough food? For having to complete tax documents and show ID for all purchases including something as simple as buying a hotdog or ice cream cone? Worry the ATM won't have any money in it?
Then you might just want to live in Venezuela.
If you look closely, you might find that all of Hugo Chevez's "great deals" for his citizens... really made things worse!

You really do have a point there. The economy is in a state of crisis there. So where are they getting the money to help the populace switch their vehicles?
