A good transportation system builds the base of a vibrant economy. A bad transportation kills it. The transfer of goods relies heavily on the way it is transferred from the point of origin to the point of destination. The more costly and tedious it is, the worse it is for the larger economy.
Extensive research is put on transportation systems, as it was already proven that transportation is an important aspect of an economy. One such agency focusing on transportation research is the Transportation Research Board (TRD).
