Hybrid Cars : Detroit Killer?

Beside the threat of the US economic recession, What really killing Detroit is they were blind or not open to the opportunities offered by hybrid cars although these cars only represent a small but growing and not very profitable segment of car industry market.

Hybrid cars like Toyota Prius, represents only about 2.6 percent of all U.S. vehicles, about 22,000 hybrids are on the streets according to R.L. and HybridCars.com's data.

GM loses $4.2 B in third quarter

It's worse than what the people from Wall Street expected. GM actually lost $4.2 billion last third quarter. Without government or any other kind of intervention, the company may end up getting bankrupt.

Dropping customer sales amid a credit crunch is pointed as the reason for the large loss. This might put the possible Chrysler acquisition at the backseat.
